Because as the Calgary Flames coordinated their outfits for arrival at the 2023 Heritage Classic at Commonwealth Stadium, they skipped an important item.

As they filed off the team bus, the Flames were rocking boots, denim overalls and cowboy hats.
But who the heck was supposed to order the shirts?
“Nobody,” deadpanned defenceman Chris Tanev. “No shirts.”

A few of the Flames were sporting sleeveless white shirts, but most didn’t bother with any sort of tops. They looked like they were ready to sling hay bales on a scorching summer day.
“A little bit of western wear for us,” grinned Flames forward Andrew Mangiapane during a pre-game press conference. “It was (Nazem) Kadri’s idea, and we went with it and had some fun with it.
“We look great, I think.”

The hosts were dressed like oil rig workers, complete with hard hats and dirty coveralls.
