Goaltender Ethan Buenaventura made a career-high 57 saves, while Sean Tschigerl scored a pair of shorthanded goals to lead the Calgary Hitmen to a 7-4 win over the CHL’s No. 1-ranked Portland Winterhawks on Sunday night at Scotiabank Saddledome.

David Adaszynski (1g, 2a), Tyson Galloway (1g, 2a) and Dax Williams (3a) led the scoring parade in the WHL contest, while Maxim Muranov, Oliver Tulk and Carter MacAdams also found the back of the net for the Hitmen. Tulk’s tally extended his goal-scoring streak to five games, while MacAdams’ marker was his third in as many outings.

It was also a milestone victory for head coach Steve Hamilton, who recorded his 250th career regular-season win.

The Hitmen never trailed, jumping to period leads of 2-1 and 6-2 en route to their season-high fourth consecutive victory while improving to 4-1-1 on home ice and 6-7-2 overall.

The Winterhawks (8-4-0) outshot Calgary 61-35 and received their goals from Marcus Ngyuyen, Gabe Klassen, Josh Davies and Kyle Chyzowski. Luke Brunen made 28 saves.

The Hitmen will enjoy a four-day break before their five-game homestand continues next weekend with a pair of games. On Friday, Calgary will host the Everett Silvertips before a Sunday visit from the Moose Jaw Warriors.  Both games will be played in the ‘Dome with Friday a 7 p.m. start while Sunday’s opening faceoff is at 6 p.m.
